This is an open and free web event and it invite all people who care about human rights as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to participate.

It seeks nominations of individuals or organizations who have made a substantial contribution to the advancement of human rights and justice.

Nominees may be from any country and of any age.

For each focus area, applicants should propose nominees that have made a significant contribution to the advancement of human rights or justice in that field.

Nominees can be individuals or nonprofit organizations.

Nomination requirements are few in order to encourage innovation and participation.

It seeks nominations of individuals or organizations that have made a significant contribution to the advancement of human rights.

However, this does not mean that your nominee need be a famous activist, or work for an organization similar to Global Exchange.

Full Scholarships for AIDS Leadership Workshops

Advancing Women’s Leadership and Advocacy for AIDS Action is an initiative to equip and empower a cadre of women from around the world with the knowledge and skills to strengthen and lead the global response to AIDS.

Funded by the Ford Foundation, it brings together leading global agencies including CEDPA and the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW), International Community of Women Living with HIV/AIDS (ICW), National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC) and UNAIDS-led Global Coalition on Women and AIDS.

The Latin American and Caribbean regional workshop is the third regional workshop conducted under the Advancing Women's Leadership and Advocacy for AIDS Action initiative.

The initiative includes: a training component led by CEDPA and its partners; and a small grants program led by the Global Coalition on Women and AIDS.

The Latin American and Caribbean region Women’s Leadership in HIV/AIDS workshop is designed for early to mid-career women from NGOs, PLWHA organizations, the private sector and political institutions who work in HIV/AIDS programs at national, state, district or community levels.

Women with a commitment to building women’s leadership in HIV/AIDS and who meet the following criteria will be considered:

# Current staff or volunteer working with government or non-governmental organizations or networks at the community, district, state or national level in the field of HIV/AIDS,

# A minimum of 3-5 years experience working in HIV/AIDS program management and/or advocacy,

# Demonstrated commitment to HIV/AIDS programming or advocacy that positively impacts women and girls,

# Demonstrated commitment to meaningfully involve women living with HIV/AIDS, and

# Demonstrated motivation or ability to bring about change at the community, district, state or national level.

# The workshop will be conducted in Spanish and selected applicants must be highly proficient in written and spoken Spanish.

If selected for the program, participants' tuition, travel and per diem costs will be fully covered.

The Global Network of People Living with HIV (GNP+), with its Headquarters in Amsterdam, is the only global entity operated by and for people living with HIV/AIDS, through partner networks in six different regions of the world. Through its Global Advocay Agenda, GNP+ aims for; universal access to treatment, care and prevention services; decreased stigma and discrimination; and an improvement in the meaningful involvement of people living with HIV.

We seek to recruit a highly qualified candidate for the position of YOUTH OFFICER
Application deadline is 7 October 2009. Starting date is 15 November 2009. Duty Station is Amsterdam.
This one year full-time staff position (pending 6 month pilot phase, and possibilities for potential renewal) will be supported by the GNP+ Secretariat and will report to the Director of Programmes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Programmes, The Youth Officer will work to support and broaden networking and collaboration amongst stakeholders to facilitate an enabling environment within GNP+ and the regional people living with HIV networks for young people living with HIV. The Youth Officer will work to mobilize, advocate and support meaningful engagement of young people living with HIV toward the development and strengthening of a network of young people living with HIV within GNP+.
Competencies and Experience
* Preferably under the age of 30 (lower limit is 18 years old)
* Preferably the person is openly living with HIV.
* At least 2 years experience working in HIV and reproductive health civil society organisations or a relevant university degree.
* In-depth knowledge of the international young people living with HIV movement and an understanding of county, regional and global people living with HIV networks.
* Networking experience and skills.
* Excellent advocacy, communication and public speaking skills.
* Excellent communication in English, and preferred experience with other languages including Dutch and one or more of the United Nations languages.
* Enthusiasm and commitment to supporting and working with young people living with HIV from different nationalities, and social backgrounds.
Remuneration/Contract
Depending on professional background and experience, the indicative annual salary is from €40,000 to €45,000, subject to deductions of contributions to the Pension and Health Insurance Schemes. Other benefits include a generous benefit package and a flexible work environment. The initial contract is for a fixed term of one year.
GNP+ retains the discretion not to make any appointment to this vacancy, to make an appointment at a lower grade in particular if the selected candidate has less than the qualifications required or to make an appointment with a modified job description or for a shorter duration than indicated above. GNP+ reserves the right to undertake correspondence only with short-listed candidates.

Echoing Green Fellowship Program

The Echoing Green Fellowship Program provides seed funding. Grants are irrespective of citizenship and can be used for projects in Africa.

Echoing Green offers fellowships to individuals and to partnerships of no more than two individuals.

Individual Fellowships: $30,000 per year for two years for a total of $60,000 paid in four equal instalments of $15,000

Partnership Fellowships: $45,000 per year (per project, not per individual) for two years for a total of $90,000 paid in four equal instalments of $22,500.

The Echoing Green Fellowship program was created to provide social entrepreneurs who have original and compelling ideas for driving social change with the tools and resources to start new autonomous public service projects or organizations.

Echoing Green Fellowship Program does not limit applicants to specific program areas or geographic territories.

Pauline Graham Scholarship for African Female Students

Pauline Avigès Graham graduated from LSE with a BSc in Accounting in 1965. She was a scholarship recipient herself in Egypt where she was born and brought up.

Having had the opportunity to study at LSE, she is now keen to be an education benefactor herself and has provided a generous endowment scholarship to encourage and support academically talented young women from Africa to apply to the London School of Economics.

The Pauline Graham Scholarship for African Female Students has a value of £15,000 per annum.

Eligibility:
# This scholarship is for a female African undergraduate applicant. Applicants must be resident in, and nationals of, an African country.

# Applicants must have secured an offer of admission onto an MSc programme at the School.

If you complete an online Graduate Support Scheme application, you will be automatically considered for any other awards being offered by LSE, for which you are eligible.
